~ALFREDO MARTINEZ / THE REAL FAKE BASQUIAT

of course, if you don’t have a fistful of millions of $$$ . . .
you could always opt for a real fake Basquiat . . . by ALFREDO MARTINEZ.

Alfredo, the original Basquiat forger . . who was so good, he single-handedly
brought down the blue chip ‘letter of authenticity’ market,
spent 2 years in jail, in the early 2000s, when he got busted for selling a few fakes to an ex-Columbian coke dealer / long story.
but, yeah check those provenances.

Alfredo now signs them with his own name, which makes them bona fide, Alfredos !!
but, equally captivating, and for only about $2 grand .. well, it’s a no brainer.

contact me in the link to my email, at the top left of this webpage – if you want in.

acrylic paint on cardboard / 50 x 40 in.
($2,000)

~BASQUIAT . . DRAWING ON PAPER / SOTHEBY’S !!

Basquiat drawing on (largish) paper . . goes for $15,184,900 USD
in NYC / Contemporary Art Evening Auction – Sotheby’s, June 29, 2020 /
selling well above the $9-12 million estimate.

JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT, ‘Untitled (Head)’, 1982.
oil stick, ink & acrylic on paper /
29-3/4 x 22 in.

the rock solid provenance prob contributed to the off-the-charts – outcome.

~ROSS BROWN . . caught me !! / LIVING DANGEROUSLY !!

Yeah, those . . were the days !!

hell ya, living dangerously amongst total strangers, without social distancing, masks.
or disinfectant. no sink. no incessant hand washing. bad DIY haircuts, and zoom etc.
5 star sonic jet fly-overs & 12 hr work days. radio djs whining about being in their bedrooms to get away from the wife. medical experts coming at you from their living rooms, home cubbies, or bedrooms, depending on the pay scale. a little TMI re the 6 o’clock news anchors, but hey great to see everyone else has a wilted orchid – they still hang onto, too.

the art work was gritty enough – all on it’s own.
and, come to think of it / it did actually presage a ‘diseased-out’ future, bye the way.
google . . LEWY.

ps: claim to fame . .
@walterrobinsonstudio commented in the IG thread / “living dangerously” …!!

yeah, so that’s me in the orange flannel, just in case you couldn’t figure it out.

so,
ART FRONTIER ADVISORY aka Ross Brown . .
or,
whoever he is / his ‘linked-in’ page says: financial / art advisor / CPA.
& not a bad combo, btw.
& he has some kind of a . . website

but, seriously,
I have no idea who he is, and I have never met him.
but, damn if he didn’t take the absolute best photo of me – ever !!

& throw back to the good ole days, or what !!
doing my favorite pre-Corona activity, . . .
a deep dive into a gritty, hardcore, off-the-wall . . pop-up opening !!
/ Chinatown.

I’m super glad, he apparently reads artlovers, now / esp in his profession.

though, it looks like it took him 4 years to figure out – who I was ?!!
he certainly had no idea . . when he first took that photo.

he just recently posted it / tagging . . me, this past April 1.
yeah . . April Fools Day, and also echoing the opening’s very very April Fools date, too.
but, I was not going to post a photo of myself on April Fools Day (!!!)
jinx, NOT.

even though,
as I said, Walter Robinson, did comment: “Living Dangerously” / prob the best thing anybody ever said about me – underneath it.
