JOE BRADLEY, ‘Krasdale’ is now up at GAGOSIAN GALLERY – 980 MADISON AVE, NYC
the show runs APRIL 2 – MAY 3, 2016
see: JOE BRADLEY – ‘KRASDALE’

JOE BRADLEY . . one of the sculptures in ‘Krasdale’, Gagosian Gallery, NYC
‘TBT’, 2016. Bronze. 27 x 18 x 11-1/4 in.
edition of 4 + 1 AP.
this one is quite obvious, but that’s the deal with Joe;s work, how he can twist the F out of obvious.
I like how it breaks down into a bottomline code, for humanity. and even, the best drive or evolutionary instinct within human-ity.
it’s kind of a 3D pictogram or hieroglyph.

JOE BRADLEY, ‘TBT’, 2016.
wood, 13-1/2 x 18-1/2 x 7-1/2 in.
edition of 4 + 1 AP
if I were able to fork out the big chunk of green backs ($$$) these pieces prob commando, this would be the one I’d get. I like the lightbulb one above very much, and it’s very elegant. If you had one of his more messy, expressionist abstract paintings, such as those in the GBE show: ‘Lotus Beaters’ of a few years back – you might pick this one & that would definite rock . . in context.
but just in the vacuum of pure thought – this is the one I would plunk my mini fortune down on. its got such a great, ‘so damn’ ugly edge.
plus it’s just a broader metaphor – to reach for, plus it’s funnie. as opposed to elegant.
plus its . . . wood ? bow wow.

ps: for our foreign friends: ‘Krasdale’ is a brand of cheap, lower end corporate + prob modified the hell out of, mostly super processed food ‘stuff’ – found in lower end stores & grocery chains in NYC and beyond. your typical NYC bodega would carry Krasdale items. low end macaroni and cheese, anybody.
food for thought, not normally. but in Joe’s hands . . . yes.

JOE BRADLEY, left – frontman of the indie art band CHEESEBURGER . . .
with bandmates, LUKE CROTTY & CHRISTY KARACAS – at a KENNY SCHACHTER / ROVE pop-up at CAPITALE, a downtown bar+event venue, NYC – Summer 2003.
fun fact: Joe’s band / performance ‘stage’ name was: Malibu Von.
