well, I don’t think the POOR are really that meek, they can lie, steal, burn, rape and rage etc. the main thing is, I think he was trying to say . . that they are helpless esp vs corporations, institutions, government, and of course, the really big, uber scammers of Wall St. so, yeah go out and . . REVOLT.
super illustration. looks very woodblock. cut & carved but – incredibly fluid at the same time.
This is the first NY solo show of Aethelred Eldridge in 30 years.
the show focuses on “just over three decades of the artist’s output from 1970-2005. On view will be a wallpaper presentation of black and white works from the 1980s through the early 2,000s & framed color paintings on paper from the 70s.”

“Eldridge (born 1930, MI) is a legend in Athens County, OHIO where he has lived, worked, and taught for over 50 years. He was an associate professor from 1957-2014 at the Ohio University School of Art where his iconic work remains on view as a 50 by 80 foot black and white mural at the school’s SEIGFRED HALL.”
“Eldridge creates provocative messages that weave together Blakian, Celtic, ?re-Roman British, and his own deeply coded mythologies. These are at once stark and humorous works that take on prophetic tones, often political in nature, and are rattling, energizing, and relevant in their pointed critique of civilization.”
so interesting to me . . how this social media instant communication, DIY REVIVALISM, and hands-on, take charge indie youth culture loves to uproot and really rock the old guys. Hurray !!

I did actually meet HALEY JOSEPHS, when she was a first year MFA painting student at YALE, back in April 27 of 2013 . . at the Yale MFA Open Studio weekend.
it’s so great . . to see her work taking off !!!!!!
‘In a Grove of Pines’, at MOUNTAIN in Bushwick, this Oct 2016 / a 2 person painting show with JON WEARY . . was a great showcase for her.

one of the intense . . JON WEARY paintings.
totally . . off the rails.
changing . . the pictorial ‘rules’.

super dreamy / bitter-sweet, haunting & pushed-to-the-wall-intense – hard-core indie show – or what !!!!!!
great contrast, yet strange harmony – plays out between the 2 very different artists.
now, that’s what I call . . a painting show.

one of them really struck a nerve tonight – as the American Presidential elections . . really slide south. as a ‘all downhill’ from here on – tonight.

Huma Abedin had official government / state dept. no less / Benghazi . . I hate to ask / over a thousand / govt emails on a yahoo account ? are you kidding me ?
on a laptop shared with her pervy pol husband ? are you kidding me ?
was it just a dream & can I wake up – now ?
even a 5 yr old knows .. yahoo is the least secure site in the whole damn infinite digital universe, you couldn’t make this stuff up – if you tried. Obama should just declare emergency war measures, with one of our active enemies, who cares, just name one. Russia, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran . . . and just friggin cancel the whole damn farce, I mean election. til they can come up with some better candidates. Lin Manuel . . does come to mind.

the thought of either Hillary or Trump in the White House, for very different reasons, esp tonight. – makes me want to vomit. is that how ANARCHY – begins ?
if so, then bring on the anarchy.
it sure is doing the art world some good, to be all shook – up.
how does a country fall apart so fast ? we’re so young, only like some 200 years and already we are like the doomed last cycle Romans – the rules suffocate the system, the citizens feel hopeless, good men cannot rise to the top, and everybody is watching the games: football !! and just hoping if they eat enough hot wings, chips & dip / things will right themselves ???

if you don’t think, there’s not untold & profound powers – of some kind out there, you should rethink Stonehenge, and all the other 5,000 / 50,000 year old ‘primitive’ temples / and ‘calendars’ . . they keep un-earthing from the jungles – and just keep yourself, keep on . . keeping on.
apts in Brooklyn are expensive, and I bet even more so in Paris. and the rent is due on the first of the month, so best . . to keep your head down, slightly ?
play your part – in the daily grind. tread lightly ?
trip lightly, too.
