~JEAN-BAPTISTE LENGLET: VIRTUAL DREAM CENTER

download: VIRTUAL DREAM CENTER . . !!

curious . . about where VIRTUAL DREAM CENTER was heading, and wanting to say thanks !!
for his interest in our ‘UNDER THE VOLCANO: Simon Cerigo, Dan Asher, Nancy Smith’ 2015 – NYC pop-up show . .
I wrote the founder & head honcho . . Paris-based artist JEAN-BAPTISTE LENGLET for a few words.
this is what he had to say, in his lovely French accent:

VDC / VIRTUAL DREAM CENTER . . is basically an artist-run space, internet-based, that express itself mainly through ‘video game’ releases. In the sense our app are made with video game engine (software).
Myself I’m the creator of it, and now the ‘art director’, but this project is a tool for the artists I like, and my role is more to invite some artist and help them to express their visions in this (video game) medium.

It is where it’s an artist-run space: it’s made by and for artists. It’s a place for experimentation, an alternative art center.

I’d like to have new exhibitions every 3 months.

In January we’ll release both a piece of mine, ‘Collage City’, and ‘Under The Volcano’. ‘Collage City’ is really a virtual piece, like an experimental movie made as a virtual exhibition.

For ‘Under The Volcano’, it is mainly Nick (Brooklyn-based Nicholas Steindorf). He recreates the whole Bowery area. I just help him for some final details, like the soundtrack, and some urban interventions (some collages of mine will be inserted here and there.) I’ll help him with the final technical questions also. But he is doing 90% of the job.

For ‘Under The Volcano’:
As an art center, it is very interesting to recreate an exhibition. And I am very proud and honored VDC will present SIMON CERIGO’s work.
Great honor.”

when I asked JEAN-BAPTISTE . . if ‘Collage City’ will also take place on the Bowery, I loved his answer.
so quirky – so unexpected. so strange, so funny.
very international, and new global w-o-r-l-d.

JEAN-BAPTISTE: “Nope! ‘Collage City’ is centered on Phnom Penh, Cambodia.” – !!!!!!!!!

here are some screenshots of a walk through the piece:

DIGITAL . . WORK IN PROGRESS / D-WIP ?!!

NICHOLAS STEINDORF . . is re-creating our ‘UNDER THE VOLCANO: SIMON CERIGO, DAN ASHER, NANCY SMITH’ pop-up show – for the VIRTUAL DREAM CENTER platform.

see: VIRTUAL DREAM CENTER

the show took place the weekend of JUNE 6-7, 2013 . . in an empty storefront in Chinatown, on the Bowery.
curated by KATE & THEO CERIGO . . who grew up with us, and all our art and drama . . on Rivington St, smack dab in the Lower East Side, when it was raw and truly popping, in the early 80s-mid 90s.
the show was an on-point ‘group’ retrospective, was very well received, and attracted a huge, and young flash mob – at the opening.
it was like all of Brooklyn came out for the . . underground art scene – of days, long past.

it’s really exciting to see the first early advance . . ‘replica’ – digital ‘photos’ – come to life, below.
if you caught the show – you will know . . what I mean !!
bravo – Nicholas !!

& thank you – Paris-based JEAN-BAPTISTE LENGLET !!
founder/art director of VIRTUAL DREAM CENTER, for your interest in our show !!
and allowing it to come to life, again – in the timeless, digital realm.

they are on view at their BOOTH #2.04, NADA.

ok, so listen up.
DAN ASHER . . has not seen his glory days yet, in terms of the market, but that’s just because – the market is slow, and d-u-m-b.
everybody who is anybody in NYC, has a couple of, if not 10 of . . Dan’s works tucked away.
& filed under: BEST POTENTIAL – TO BLOW UP . . BIG !!
I would take one DAN ASHER – for any 10 pieces YOU are buying.
that’s for sure.

if you have any art ‘eyeballs’ whatsoever, you’d be rushing over & buying them – up.
MARTOS seems to have priced them – as close to the bone as he can.
