I exaggerated about <em>one<\/em> thing &#8211; I did know one of the artists, but only one, tTRAVIS LINDQUIST, whose path I had just crossed for the first time in about 3 years, over at the &#8216;MYTH&#8217; opening, the same night at McCAIG and WELLES. AIMEE CHAN, the Associate Director at FRONT ROOM, also had stopped by &#8216;MYTH&#8221; and they both invited me over to check out the FRONT ROOM opening, just 2 blocks away. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/photos\/multiples___1.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" alt=\"Multiples # 1\" class=\"centered\" \/><br \/>\nAIMEE CHAN,  ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR of FRONT ROOM GALLERY and TRAVIS LINDQUIST<br \/>\nOUTSIDE THE &#8216;MYTH&#8217; OPENING,  McCAIG AND WELLES, JAN 11, 2008<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/photos\/MUltiples___2.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" alt=\"multiples # 2\" class=\"centered\" \/><br \/>\nAPPROACHING THE FRONT ROOM GALLERY &#8211; 147 ROEBLING ST &#8211; in WILLIAMSBURG<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/photos\/multiples___3.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" alt=\"multiples # 3\" class=\"centered\" \/><br \/>\nthe show&#8217;s curator, ETHAN CRENSON, with, his wife, ALIC. they both have work in the show.<\/p>\n<p>ETHAN told me he got the idea for the show while he was out visiting different artists&#8217; studios.  Many, as is the custom these days, had &#8216;left-overs&#8217; from small edition series they had produced for previous shows, and he thought &#8211; this would be a good genesis to build a group show around &#8211; he was right !! and we are not talking just limited edition prints, either, like back in the day. Just observing &#8211; the range and diversity of the limited artist editions &#8211; was totally entertaining !!!<br \/>\nPlus they were all really well made, whether handmade or super &#8216;professionally&#8217; produced &#8211; and most  all, had a conceptual edge, as well as a uniquely visual richness.  <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/photos\/multiples___4.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" alt=\"multiples # 4\" class=\"centered\" \/><br \/>\nthe show has a poster &#8211; on really nice shiny card-stock &#8211; and a small catalog book, that not only gives detailed info on all the pieces, but serves up small, interesting  bios on the participating artists, all 60 of them. The card and poster are based on a butcher&#8217;s ANGUS BEEF CHART, with the artist&#8217;s names placed &#8211; where the names of the cuts of meat were, in the original ..<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/photos\/multiples___5.jpg\" width=\"288\" height=\"384\" alt=\"multiples # 5\" class=\"centered\" \/><br \/>\nfor some crazy reason, the first piece that grabs our eye is a small sign on a door, that we realize later leads into the gallery office.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/photos\/multiples___6.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" alt=\"multiples # 6\" class=\"centered\" \/><br \/>\nbut for the moment, its the doorway to &#8216;EROTIC INFORMATION&#8217;.<br \/>\n. .  . turns out &#8211;  to be a piece by the curator, ETHAN CRENSON.<br \/>\n&#8216;Signs&#8217;, 2007. plastic, 10 x 2 ins. Edition: 25 (each)<br \/>\n(there were 3: WHOLESALE SLAUGHTER, EROTIC INFORMATION &#038; PLEASE DEPARTMENT !!)<br \/>\nBlack plastic sign with white engraved lettering. CHOCOLATE SANTAS !! &#8211;  move over &#8230; time to let JIMI take over !!!!<\/p>\n<p>1. the little red figurine,<br \/>\n    <em>NAVAL CASSIDY, &#8216;baby Navel Connector&#8217;, 2007, red rubber figurine and DVD with case.<br \/>\n    Edition: 12<br \/>\n    &#8230;.Navel rescued this small figurine from his parents&#8217; living room, and it has been featured in Cassidy&#8217;s work for the last 20 years. The DVD comprises a kaleidoscopic vision dedicated  to the figurine in all its terrifying glory&#8230; the viewer is encouraged to hold the copy in his\/her hands while watching the mandala unfold&#8230;WARNING: strong stroboscopic imagery contained in the DVD.
