\nthose were rough & wild days back then \/ the area was quite distressed & very hardcore.
\ngritty . . cannot be overstated. but, it was<\/strong> the center of the universe as far as we were concerned.
\nBASQUIAT, (d. 1988) & KEIH HARING, (d. 1990) . . lived around the corner.
\nSoho, and the broader L.E.S was the epicenter of the gallery scene.
