&#8211; the space invites Both diversity and community \/  as well as offering &#8220;open calls&#8221; . . for ideas &#038; programming.<br \/>\nThe space opened this past SEPT 2018 &#038; this is only their 3rd show &#8211; RFID chips.<br \/>\ndimensions variable.<\/p>\n<p>I found it intriguing that this was a &#8216;grouping&#8217;, and yet so stone cold.<br \/>\nand yet . . so dark and curious. the <strong>small<\/strong> scale, as well as the fact that most of the sculptural grouping, lay on the floor . .  led to audience \/ interactive impulses. so imaginative, so &#8216;narrative&#8217;, &#038; yet exceptionally . . industrial at heart \/ but, with a cachet of magic &#038; ancestral fables (the long black pony tail) at heart. dark heart ? playful, IDK.<br \/>\nI also half- expected the metal boxes &#8211; to get up, and skitter away . .  on nano-robotic feet !!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Dachal-Choi-Eutheria-2.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Dachal-Choi-Eutheria-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38827\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nso, I later read that the cold steel \/ metal boxes were actual mouse traps &#8211; which only intensified the context \/ and amplified logic of the floor setting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Dachal-Choi-Eutheria-3.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Dachal-Choi-Eutheria-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38828\" \/><\/a><br \/>\na friend of the artist, told me at the opening . .  that the resin &#8216;mini-sculptures&#8217; were &#8220;3-D&#8221; print-outs of Brancusi sculptures.<br \/>\nagain, the implied poetry and, the industrial level . .  both &#8211; raised up a BIG, couple of notches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Dachal-Choi-Eutheria-3-1.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Dachal-Choi-Eutheria-3-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38830\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nthough, vs Brancusi (&#8216;The Kiss&#8217;), overall, I did feel overall, there was a deep, sad heart at play here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/DchL-CHOI-EUTHERIA-4.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/DchL-CHOI-EUTHERIA-4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1056\" height=\"792\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38832\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI guess you should go walk amongst this . .  mini-sculpture park for yourself, get lost in reverie, sensuousness. and technical abandon \/ &#038; come to your own . . conclusions. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/EMILY-WANG-ASSEMBLY-ROOM-NYC.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/EMILY-WANG-ASSEMBLY-ROOM-NYC.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38834\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEMILY WANG, in front of her large watercolor.<br \/>\nboth an artist and a musician, Ms. Wang performs under her solo project <em>Lima Rei<\/em>, and with the band <em>Dies Smely.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/EMILY-WANG-watercolor.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/EMILY-WANG-watercolor.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38836\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEMILY WANG, &#8216;At the edge of time&#8217;, 2018.<br \/>\nwatercolor, pencil, charcoal, oil on paper.<br \/>\n46 x 34 in.<\/p>\n<p>again, this is really something you need to get up close and personal with \/ to experience at the fullest. secrets &#038; emotions . .  run subtle, deep and powerful in this show.<br \/>\n&#8220;spotless rain&#8221;  . . . ???<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Emily-wang-detail.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Emily-wang-detail.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38837\" \/><\/a><br \/>\ndetail, EMILY WANG, &#8216;At the edge of time&#8217;.<br \/>\nthere was also a very &#8216;technical&#8217; side to this piece as well, all was not . . poetry.<br \/>\nthe subtle \/ powerful yin yang \/  give &#038; take . .  technique of watercolor painting, vs the effect of &#8216;colored&#8217; oil paint on paper, the effect of water, equated the presence of passing time.<br \/>\npassing thoughts: brush in hand \/ in free-fall.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CICI-WU-at-Assembly-Room.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CICI-WU-at-Assembly-Room.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38839\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nCICI WU, a large and seemingly . . fragile hanging.<br \/>\nCici Wu was born in Beijing, and raised in Hong Kong.<br \/>\nHer work has been exhibited at 47 Canal, as well as other venues, both here and abroad.<br \/>\nShe has been the co-organizer of an artist-run residency &#038; exhibition space, PRACTICE, since 2015.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CICI-wu-flower.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CICI-wu-flower.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38840\" \/><\/a><br \/>\none gets the sense of fragile, yet ready-made \/ strong and sturdy despite the willow-i-ness. plastic is indestructible, and though (organic) flowers <strong>do<\/strong> come and go, flowers hopefully,  will always . . bloom.<br \/>\na happy thought to depart on. &#038; a sense one gets about all 3 of these young women.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CiCi-wu-diagram.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CiCi-wu-diagram.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38841\" \/><\/a><br \/>\na cosmic diagram in a basket ?<br \/>\nthe power of the life force \/ the universe, the creative impulse ?<br \/>\nthe tantric road map. the signs that a pencil can make.<br \/>\nlet&#8217;s hope so !! or maybe, then again . . . not.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CICI-Wu-boots.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CICI-Wu-boots.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38842\" \/><\/a><br \/>\ngrounded !! humbled.<br \/>\nthe kite \/ the ribbon. the thought &#8216;balloon&#8217;
