WE LIVE IN PUBLIC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IN <strong>MY<\/strong> COLLECTION !!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SKEWVILL-COLLECTION-NANCY-SMITH.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SKEWVILL-COLLECTION-NANCY-SMITH.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"648\" height=\"864\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37023\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nwhy, what&#8217;s this . .<br \/>\npeeping out through my fav stack \/ art collection next to my computer desk ??<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SKEWVILLE-hubcap-May-2010.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SKEWVILLE-hubcap-May-2010.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"648\" height=\"864\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37024\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nbless my soul, if it&#8217;s not  . . a SKEWVILLE &#8216;POP&#8217; \/  HUB CAP !!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SKEWVILLE-to-NANCY.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SKEWVILLE-to-NANCY.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"648\" height=\"864\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37025\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI bought it for $50 from their FACTORY FRESH SHOW, MAY of 2010.<br \/>\nI had been following them for awhile, and I can remember this date,<br \/>\nbecause I actually have a faded newspaper clipping &#8211; taped to the back of it.<br \/>\nit was the first tabloid &#8211; breaking story \/ of the BERNIE MADOFF $65 Billion Ponzi scheme !!<br \/>\nNEW YORK POST &#8211; May 1, 2010. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/WLIP-ENGER-WARNING-SIGN.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/WLIP-ENGER-WARNING-SIGN.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37027\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nlol, what&#8217;s that . .  underneath it ?<br \/>\nthat&#8217;s for  . . another story.<br \/>\nok &#8211; a quick look &#8211; back !!<br \/>\nit&#8217;s one of the original (!!)  metal signs &#8211; that hung throughout &#8216;QUIET&#8217; . .  !!<br \/>\nthe JOSH HARRIS \/ $1 million dollar Millennium party !!<br \/>\nthat inspired the 2009 Sundance winning doc &#8211; &#8216;WE LIVE IN PUBLIC&#8217;.<br \/>\n&#038; now being made into a movie under the guidance of BEN STILLER, lol !!<br \/>\nwith JONAH HILL as JOSH \/ priceless. btw.<\/p>\n<p>the sign was silk screened by R.I.P. BEAUTIFUL COWBOY .  . MARK ENGER.<br \/>\nit was a warning . .<br \/>\nnot to enter  . .<br \/>\nif you didn&#8217;t consent to have your likeness &#8211; used . . &#8220;in any manner they see fit&#8221; . . !!!!!<br \/>\n&#8220;THANK YOU, LUVVY L.L.C.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>talk about . . s-c-a-r-y clowns !!<\/p>\n<p>I guess I was <strong>trying<\/strong> to catalog my collection  \/ via material, as in . . &#8216;metal sign&#8217;.<br \/>\nI guess I stopped there.<\/p>\n<p>coz, I def have a few more !!<br \/>\nand in this case, the more &#8211; the MERRIER !!!!!<\/p>\n<p>meaning that . .  metal signs are <strong>so<\/strong> much easier on the collector vs. works on paper.<br \/>\nre: no need for frames \/ easy storage etc etc. \/ no sunlight issues. no &#8216;sensitive&#8217; handling issues.<br \/>\nand plus, they are usually a reasonable size to handle, too.<br \/>\n&#038; pretty damn  . . indestructible.<br \/>\nthis one is also signed. by Josh on the back \/ even though initially it was a &#8216;find&#8217;.<br \/>\nI had grabbed it from certain oblivion, discarded or forgotten, just before the whole party went up in flames (metaphorically).<br \/>\nthat&#8217;s the funny things about signs, or hub caps. or signage in general \/ so easy to overlook.<\/p>\n<p>and there&#8217;s that&#8217;s other funny thing about signs, esp metal ones \/ being so indestructible &#8211; &#038; in that sense,<br \/>\nmore of a (thin) sculpture than a drawing. still though, great design \/ graphics &#038; thought went into the making.<br \/>\nand so, to my experience  . . $$$$ value-laden. just on durability. on &#8216;existence&#8217;. on design. on intent.<br \/>\nbut also,  usually they are like quick multiples, promotions, or outright give-aways \/ the great signage, after the fact, that  everyone else forgets. <\/p>\n<p>PHOTOS: NANCY SMITH<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IN MY COLLECTION !! why, what&#8217;s this . . peeping out through my fav stack \/ art collection next to my computer desk ?? bless my soul, if it&#8217;s not . . a SKEWVILLE &#8216;POP&#8217; \/ HUB CAP !!
