\nFILE UNDER: NOT SO . . . FUNNY !!!!!<\/strong>
\na 14-yr old girl, apparently a really sweet, and athletic cheerleader from Connecticut – tragically got caught in a tree branch ‘strainer’ tubing down the Esopus creek, on holiday with her dad, and drowned the day before we showed up – for same route, on Sunday Labor Day weekend.
\nthey do<\/strong> a dam ‘release’ on special weekends – so it’s really EXTREME, WHITE WATER TUBING !!!!!
\nmad strong currents, rocks, trees, hidden obstacles. high rushing water levels.
\ntotally un-supervised. more or less.
\nshe wasn’t wearing a life preserver. TINKER TUBES which rents tubes to day-tourists and locals alike, makes, or at least indicates that you need to wear . . a life jacket. she wasn’t.
\nneedless to day, the dam ‘release’ had been shut down by Sunday – but it was still, damn scary !!
\nand, no – NOT FUNNY. sad.
\nyou’d think the t-shirts would be gone, but apparently . . commerce rules.
\ntel me about it.<\/p>\n
