His high pop street art, adorning the walls of cities around the world, come in the form of wheat pasted hearts, radiating with color, charismatic, sanguine and buoyant<\/strong>. In UPHUES’ new ‘NITE LITE’ series, we are introduced to these same aesthetics, yet with an added background element of black, raising the topic of how our culture interprets darkness versus light. (!!)<\/p>\n “BLACK LIGHT accompanies the most negative of psychic experiences but also the most sublime, resonating with the mystical experience of negative theology, the Kabbalah, the Buddhist notions of the void<\/strong>, and the ‘black light’ of the Sufi Mystics. Black light, as the darkness in individual lives and life alone, has not been treated<\/strong> hospitably in the modern world. Although modern psychology has seen darkness primarily as a negative force, it actually has an intrinsic importance to the human psyche.
