MURAKAMI.<br \/>\nit&#8217;s most def, Lower Manhattan.<br \/>\nthe fluctuation, the reference floats in the air . . like smoke.<br \/>\na double tower would be too obvious.<br \/>\ntoo much .. a sense of being &#8216;played&#8217; by others.<br \/>\nkeeping it &#8216;single&#8217;,  is more STANLEY KUBRICK, is the best I can put it.<br \/>\nit&#8217;s a refection, it worked as a &#8216;reflection&#8217; . .  not only of the past, but of YOU, the viewer . . in the present.<br \/>\nI can&#8217;t live without you, the other.<br \/>\nand I can&#8217;t live without YOU !! that is . .  me, looking in at myself.<br \/>\n<strong>you<\/strong> have been engaged, socially. artistically. you have been warned.<br \/>\nyou are also part of the wall, the story, the time, the place, the night, the exhibit. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Hakeem-lewis.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Hakeem-lewis.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Hakeem-lewis\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Hakeem-lewis.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Hakeem-lewis-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\njust to the left, is a far flung, non-narrative piece by HAKEEM LEWIS.<br \/>\na blow-out, none the less.<br \/>\nand an elegant one, at that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Dog-Caroline-Cerussi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Dog-Caroline-Cerussi.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Dog---Caroline-Cerussi\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19818\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Dog-Caroline-Cerussi.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Dog-Caroline-Cerussi-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\naround the corner, dramatically &#8216;lit&#8217;, small realist paintings by CAROLINE CERUSSI, stared back at you.<br \/>\nI mean, that&#8217;s the way it went. no words, no titles.<br \/>\nno artist captions, no limits. the best way to work the scene, was just to ask, is that yours.<br \/>\ndo you know who did it . . ?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Chris-Colton-pting.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Chris-Colton-pting.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Chris-Colton-pting\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19820\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Chris-Colton-pting.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Chris-Colton-pting-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n&#8216;LIFE IS A RORSCHACH&#8217; &#8211; a site-specific wall painting by CHRIS COLTON, I guess that . .<br \/>\ncould sum it up. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/chris-colton-portrait.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/chris-colton-portrait.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"chris-colton-portrait\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19821\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/chris-colton-portrait.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/chris-colton-portrait-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nCHRIS COLTON, is friends with the curators, he is a jazz musician . .  seriously, he is studying music at the Conservatory at McGILL, in Montreal. this is probably his first, or at least his biggest foray into the world of art, and painting, per se . . a &#8216;shake-up&#8217; of your usual format \/ mode of expression . . .  was one of the main things the 3 curators were going for.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/never-ending-warren.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/never-ending-warren.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"never-ending-warren\" width=\"763\" height=\"572\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19823\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/never-ending-warren.jpg 763w, https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/never-ending-warren-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 763px) 100vw, 763px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\na huge walk-in rorschach field, an endless warren. the creative impulse worked to the max.<br \/>\nthrown up against this ancient NYC building. the ground floor and 2 sub-levels, blurring into one.<br \/>\nraw, flat-out . . &#8216;soul&#8217; immersion.<br \/>\nthink: like a kind-of, graphic . . &#8216;waterfall&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/olivia-Ballard.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/olivia-Ballard.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"olivia-Ballard\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19826\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/olivia-Ballard.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/olivia-Ballard-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI was told OLIVIA BALLARD made this piece, this corner. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/olivia-bottles.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/olivia-bottles.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"olivia-bottles\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19827\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/olivia-bottles.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/olivia-bottles-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nkind of a sensual shock, it repeated a theme that broke down a lot, here. which was the use of very common and cheap materials, such as empty bottles  . . that worked against the site, as is. to produce something new and magical, and full of meaning if you cared to cross the line.<br \/>\na physical outpost, as well as one rich in whatever metaphor you might care to spin around it.<br \/>\nart is more like music to me, I don&#8217;t need the metaphor, but . . pick your own battles.<\/p>\n<p>the other thing was the play of &#8216;light&#8217;.<br \/>\nfor such a dark, unlit &#8216;theatre&#8217;, or stage . . the installation had many works, that worked with light, as a pure resource . .  whether as an element of the work itself, the entire viewing field, or simply as  . . reflection, as in reflected light. as seen here.<br \/>\nyou didn&#8217;t quite realize it, as you moved through what had an overwhelming sense of being: &#8216;underground&#8217;, but you were engaged by this use, this dance of light at all corners.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;light&#8217; . .  the pure &#8216;water&#8217;. the &#8216;TRON&#8217; of the digital generation.<br \/>\nthat flat computer screen . . is &#8216;illuminated&#8217;. it&#8217;s not matte.<br \/>\npress on, it &#8216;flickers&#8217; . . to life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/cody-digital-in-ancient-p.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/cody-digital-in-ancient-p.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"cody---digital-in-ancient-p\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19828\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/cody-digital-in-ancient-p.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.artloversnewyork.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/cody-digital-in-ancient-p-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nand yes. in some old dark recesses, that held the industrial &#8216;tools&#8217;
