\noops – the show they are talking about – was put on . . . . AFTER HIS DEATH !!!<\/p>\n

I’ve got the pix from his last LIVE !!<\/strong> opening at ZWIRNER – which was infamously titled: ‘MECCATUNA’ (2003), and which title apparently means the same as ‘Black Pussy’. or ‘HOT TUNA’ as they like to call it . . . up in the ole seafaring coastal communities of New York.
\nand which name, ‘MECCATUNA’ deeply offended the Muslim World, at the time.
\nit was just a few Septembers, in fact, just 2 years after the great World Trade Center take-down of 9-11 !! so people were sensitive !!
\nabout provoking another attack. chickens !!!! down with all the politically correct morons.
\nthe art world, esp the artist part of it !! likes nothing better than . . . an equal opportunity offender.
\nyou go – RHOADES !!<\/p>\n

there was great controversy when Jason Rhoades died at such a young age. esp as things were really starting to rock serious for him. but he was a bad boy, for real. as opposed to a business bobble head artist. everybody knew he partied down HARD !! it was common knowledge on the street – and revolt bubbled up from those same mean streets – when rumors of whitewashing by his gallery (ZWIRNER) began to surface – in the wake of his death. <\/p>\n
