he had told me recently, about a month ago, that . . . “the Koreans were getting fed-up” / the writing was on the wall / or, to be more precise: the locks had been changed.
at the time of the 2017 ‘studio’ visit, he was just ‘drawing guns on pizza boxes’ . . !!
but, he’s seen some success ($$$$) lately, so maybe he had started assembling (again) 3-D / non-working / art replica assault guns, with bogus & real spare parts ? that he ordered thru the mail.
that’s actually how he first established his street rep, that and, with huge life-size gun-toting robots . . at P.S.1.

Alfredo, is as hardcore as they get.
but, actually for him to say, as he is quoted in the above NEW YORK POST article, that he . . “works in the FILM BUSINESS” – is not so far-fetched.
1. in the 1999-2000 PSEUDO / JOSH HARRIS $1 MILLION DOLLAR MILLENNIUM PARTY, called ‘QUIET’, which later became immortalized in the ONDIE TIMONER / Sundance 2009 Grand Jury Prize winning, ‘WE LIVE IN PUBLIC’, a documentary biopic about Josh, and his shenanigans . . .
Alfredo ran the ‘Shooting Gallery’ downstairs, literally a reconstructed shooting range where anybody could pick up a real assault rifle & learn to shoot it / under professional / film set pro / guidance.
Alfredo & Josh managed to get away with this, by procuring a legal ‘film permit’ – holding that the entire event was a movie – which in a way – it was !!
who says money can’t buy you anything – in NYC !!
2. about the same time, Alfredo was the gun consultant & gun prop maker / specialist, for legendary filmmaker, JIM JARMUSCH project . . ‘Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai’ (1999), arguably one of his best films. alot of people, see Alfredo in the main character / which personally, I’m sure Jarmusch based on Alfredo, no doubt about it.
3. fast forward, it was announced on JAN 2018 . . . at Sundance 2018,
that BEN STILLER will direct JONAH HILL in an adaptation of the Sundance-Winning Documentary, ‘We Live in Public’ . . !!!
let’s only hope it’s as funny and quick-witted, as Stiller’s . . ‘The Meyerowitz Stories’ !!!!
JONAH HILL is going to play . . JOSH HARRIS.
since Alfredo is a big part of the Josh Harris story, (move over Jeffrey Deitch, art world ‘entrepreneur’ ?), and will surely figure large, in the feature / we all can’t wait to see / Alfredo is seriously hoping . . .
BENICIO del TORO . . will be tapped to play, who else, the ‘Real Fake Basquait’ forger, now notorious Chelsea squatter, Alfredo Martinez, himself.
