The AMERICAN FOLK ART MUSEUM is presenting a free lecture to-nite: THURS DEC 4, 2008, 6-6:45 PM

entitled: ‘FROM CAR TO CONTAINER: A BRIEF HISTORY OF RECYCLING IN ARCHITECTURE’
the speaker is: GABRIELLE ESPERDY, associate professor of architecture, New Jersey Institute of technology, NEWARK.

“How do architects recycle industrial detritus into new buildings that are aesthetically inventive and ideologically charged ? This talk will examine recent work, including projects by LOT-EK, Single Speed Design, and Rural Studio, as well as significant historical examples from ancient Rome to the 1960s that demonstrate how trained designers and self-taught builders have confronted the dilemma of waste.” (press release)

LOT-EK, Single Speed Design & Rural Studio have very interesting websites – both for cutting edge graphics & content !!
