the installation, particularly this corner took me back to 'QUIET' and the JOSH HARRIS days. I know Spencer hung out there a lot - cause I always used to see him hanging around and, even spoke with him a few times. the opening night of 'QUIET' - was a Santa-themed target shooting gallery - the PSEUDO.COM million dollar millennium party - spanned Christmas and New Year's, just like Spencer's show did - and had lots of black everywhere, and screens everywhere of every kind, and art made on the spot. though not paintings per se. in fact, it was yours truly that made the on-site banners that hung at 'QUIET' in the basement next to Alfredo's shooting gallery. but unlike Spencer's they were not pictorial, they were fleeting narratives - more like twitter, before twitter . . . so the installation really moved me. the night added up to something beyond earthly. I stayed for quite a while. on the way home - caught between ENDLESS BOOGIE, DISTRICT 9, memories of 'QUIET' - and the way forward 24/7 art play - I swear I could hear 'alien' radio waves on my little pocket radio: "RUN. WAIT. NO. TELL ME WHO YOU ARE - WILL COME FIX" !!
