despite its flashing green lights ...

it decided to malfunction just at the onset of the opening !! it was supposed to return your dollar bill - frayed at the edge - instead - it just ate your dollar bill - and gave you nothing - NADA !! - in return. surprise surprise - nobody was shocked by that !! just pretty much seemed par for the course - SUMMER 2009.

. . . actually Kenny and Boris had a second version of this piece in GAVIN BROWN's summer salon - 'THE LIVING AND THE DEAD' - also titled 'Economics 101' - but this time - it worked !! - but slightly modified !!
... you put your dollar in - you got 3 quarters back - yeah, they caught the spirit of 2009 !! slam down.

... another riveting piece, a series of 3 very brief DVD loops, titled 'Pointers I, II, and III' by DAVID ROTHENBERG.

DAVID ROTHENBERG'S DVD's were actually extremely riveting. you couldn't really tell - in this golden age of digital manipulation - what the hell was going on - the dogs, hunting dogs, pointers, were absolutely 100% stock still - but you could see minute changes in things - like a few blades of grass, being gently ruffled by a soft breeze.

. . . turns out these were DVD loops - made from snippets of actual archival hunting dog footage - and yes - the dogs, Pointers, really were standing that still !! in real time.

another really interesting piece - was provided by LeROY STEVENS.
... titled 'From the Bird's Mouth', it chronicled his science experiment/art performance - wherein he used the sun's rays to melt coins. I heard copper pennies ? things started off with these 2 C-prints of the experiment in action.
