and no, DMT is not a L-O-V-E drug !! it scrambles your brain circuits and for some people that's permanent brain damage. . shrooms over DMT - any day. but hey, it's an interesting look at how incapacitated and spaced out these people get - they are having visions, or just spatial/reality disconnects - but they cannot articulate them into words - though they try - as, the book's author, conceptual artist - JEREMY SHAW interviews them - in real time - as they are high. all on film, from which these black and white stills are taken. p.s. wonder if he did any kind of follow-up ? 'DMT' was published on the .. "occasion of the exhibition 'Jeremy Shaw: DMT' at PRESENTATION HOUSE GALLERY, VANCOUVER, September 16 to October 24, 2004". the first lines, in the book: "That's when everything just exploded and I felt like I was in the .. just in the middle of something really really like intense and but not, not of the world .... Just somewhere completely elsewhere ..yeah".

"Originally shown at Presentation House Gallery in 2004, 'DMT', a video installation by Jeremy Shaw, continues to evolve in various formats and spatial adaptions. At Presentation House it was a small octagonal construction seen only from the inside, with a monitor imbedded in each wall. The stark black room, punctuated by eight luminous faces, suggested a laboratory for some kind of clinical experiment. . . . ambient sounds of music, mixed with breathing and an occasional scream, reinforced the sense of witnessing a real-time event."
