DONALD SHERIDAN is a master print maker who runs his own studio - where he makes prints for other artists and himself. His big claim to fame ? - when he first came to town in his early 20s, his girlfriend had a friend who needed a helper in his fledgling print shop, no experience necessary - the friend ? ANDY WARHOL - the rest is history !

here's where the show got interactive - except for a very few photos hung framed on 'outside' walls, - the work was presented in glass display cases - that aggressively took over the space and physically changed the way viewers, in a maze-like experience - accessed the work. you'll note - there is no work on the walls !! it was a fairly static experience. the focus was on the work. seen like this, the photos took on more of a resource ambience, to be studied closely, and less of a decorative one. it seemed a little defensive - personally missed seeing the photos huge, and drop dead gorgeous, and on the wall.

the SEAN RASPET exhibit, 'The Ones We Work For' - was a completely opposite experience, from the very get-go. the minute you opened the door - a flurry of photo banners, densely hung at various heights, from shiny chains - and filling the entire room, floated all about you as you entered amongst them. a completely non-static experience. in fact, a very exhilarating one. opening night, DANIEL REICH GALLERY, Feb 16, 2008

based on GONDRY'S film, of the same name, which has opened to substantially positive reviews here in NYC - the installation - is a series of low budget movie 'sets' - where cinematic auteurs of all kinds - can come film their own 'sweded' versions of famous films !!
guess that would make the exhibit - narratively & creatively interactive !! and most likely a first of its kind ?

actually PATTERSON BECKWITH did something like this several years ago, albeit on a much smaller scale. he took your photo in a mock set-up of a NYC subway station.
