'The Final Run Ins', Taxter & Spengemann, May 31, 2007 "Ben Brantley, Nathan Carter and Matthew Ronay are 'The Final Run Ins', an irregular hardcore band comprised of mischievous malcontents searching for that highly elusive element of fun in an increasingly unfun art world. Known for disturbing conservative bird brained ninnies worldwide and for their peculiar stage sets inspired by an obscure German Memphis design collective, the Louisville Kentucky prank scene, and the shadowy backroom of the Hong Kong restaurant, this summer they continue their adventure by performing a very special show (or shows?) at Taxter & Spengemann. Large to small-scale collage images and unique miscellany also on view." - gallery press release. |

MARIE LORENZ and BRIAN CHIPPENDALE, 'New Mutants' after party, June 22, 2007
fun facts: 1) Full Circle - both Marie Lorenz, and Brian Chippendale, worked as studio assistants for SHEPARD FAIREY back in the day, the Rhode Island days, and they said he paid $5/hr. 2) Brian Chippendale is pretty much a cult figure to many, not just for his artistic talents, but for his intense drumming skills for the Rhode Island band, LIGHTING BOLT, as well. |
Mr. 'Wipe That Clock Off Your Face' himself, BRIAN BELOTT, at the 'New Mutants' after party, June 22, 2007 Brian is really pleased with the how the book turned out, he says he got a lot of really great direction from DAN NADEL, whose PictureBox, Inc published the book, and from the book's ART DIRECTION AND DESIGN CREW: Circle & Square; PRODUCTION HEAD: JON VERMILYEA; WISDOM CREDIT: FRANK SANTORO and DVD ASSISTANCE: CHRISTOPHER FRAGA.
Brian's only afterthought, in an otherwise perfectly conceived project, was that he wishes he had made a "label" to make the FOUND IMAGES and FOUND SOUNDS CONTENT on the attached DVD more apparent. as it is, it is flawlessly designed into the back cover, in a "pictorial camoflauge" with a kind-of push button holding the disc to the book cover. we think, its supremely cool as is! |
