while most of New York was in Miami for the fairs, ABE LINCOLN Jr. stole the scene back home with his show: The Grand Opening of: 'TAQUERIA PENDEJO' - the opening party, on Dec 1st, a live action installation, transformed the gallery into an "Authentic Fast food Taqueria". the show ran from Dec 1, 2005 - Jan 6, 2006 at downtown's ORCHARD STREET ART GALLERY, 139 Orchard St, 2nd Floor. NYC.

artist & curator Celso holds up a fast food box - they weren't kidding. all meals came boxed with a vegetarian or chicken taco & a beverage - and were priced according to the artwork purchased (purchase required to get a meal). t-shirts were $35 and the artwork topped out at $300 - so that wasn't such a bad deal - and you didn't have to go to Miami. the card for: SHINIQUE SMITH, 'OVERSTOCK', her one person show at THE PROPOSITION. The exhibit showcased her well known 'graffiti/tag' drawings, her recent 'bundled' sculptures, composed of old clothes & other cast-offs and a 'video letter' from 1989 now resurrected. 'Overstock' received a lengthy and lyrical review written by Emily Hall in the MARCH 2006 ARTFORUM. The show ran from Dec 8 - Jan 21, 2006. THE PROPOSITION GALLERY, Chelsea, NYC.
